I haven't planned this out so we'll see how it goes.
Just a little bit ago I found out about the passing of Judith "Judy" Heumann.
Judy Heumann was an incredible disability activist. She was an integral part of the execution of the 504 sit-ins, IDEA (Individuals with Disabilities Education Act), and the ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act).
I've been a wheelchair user my entire life, but didn't start learning about disability rights, really anything disability related, until a few years ago. And I've looked up to Judy ever since.
While I'm still learning and educating myself about her, I acknowledge how important her work, and her as a human being, is for the Disabled community.
My heart is broken today.
My love goes out to everyone else hurting today.
If you haven't seen it yet, please check out the movie "Crip Camp". It's incredibly important when it comes to learning about Judy's work and some important moments in disability history.
