Exclusion is a Sport (Pleasing 8)

I’ve been asking for over a year for Pleasing to clearly include visible wheelchair users and why they haven’t.

They finally did that during the Paralympics - kind of.

On August 15th, someone named Eliza (they/them pronouns) - disabled_eliza on Instagram and Tiktok - posted an Instagram reel funnily showing why not every disabled person is a Paralympian.

On August 29th, Pleasing reposted that reel onto their Instagram story.

It shouldn’t have taken 14 days - TWO WEEKS - from Eliza’s posting for Pleasing to post it, but I think it’s great Pleasing FINALLY acknowledged the existence and lives of wheelchair users.

The thing is, Pleasing still has not published (on their website, Instagram, or Tiktok) any photos and/or videos of visible wheelchair users that they have taken.

In my opinion, it’s great they finally posted something featuring a visible wheelchair user, but they need to publish their own photos and videos clearly centering us.

Pleasing publishes photos and videos a lot so they obviously can.

This exclusion is still NOT OKAY.

Pleasing is excluding human beings. They are still ignoring our existence.

One post is nice but it’s not enough. More than one wheelchair user exists.

This exclusion causes so much harm and hurt.
